Durant was the Sonics' last big star before the franchise was shut down in 2008. After four decades in the NBA, the team, along with a 20-year-old Durant, was moved and became the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the former second overall pick — who was only able to spend a single season in Seattle before the big move — obviously still has a soft spot for his former team.

There has been a lot of clamor recently for Seattle to make its much-anticipated NBA comeback. Many consider Seattle to be one of the biggest basketball cities in the country, and a romantic return to the league would be a dream come true, most especially for the residents of the city.

This dream may or may not come to fruition in the near future, but at least Durant has given the city something to cheer for, and perhaps something to hold on to, as they continue to patiently wait out their city's extended hiatus.
