The 2018 NBA Finals is off to the kind of start most people expected it to be, as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors are both supplying high-energy championship basketball and, uh, some Draymond Green antics.
In the second quarter of the series’ Game 1 Thursday night, Cavs superstar LeBron James attempted a shot at the rim but got his face hit instead by Draymond Green, who went up to challenge James. It was undeniably a foul, as Green’s hand landed cleanly on James’ face.
Replays showed that as well and everyone thought that the referees did the right thing — except Green, of course, who contested the call, resulting in him aggravating the situation by getting a technical foul.

Perhaps Green was just frustrated at Golden State’s lack of success in slowing down James. In just two quarters, James has already collected 24 points on a very efficient 9-for-11 shooting from the floor to go with four assists and two rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
As one of the Warriors’ top defenders, Green has most of the burden in keeping James in check, an unenviable task he nonetheless has to manage.
It's just Game 1, so there will be plenty more of sequences in which we'll see Green and James matched up one-on-one.
