Former NBA big man Kendrick Perkins predicts the New Orleans Pelicans will make the playoffs in 2019-20 and that Zion Williamson will average a double-double and win Rookie of the Year.

Pelicans executive David Griffin got a tremendous haul in return for Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers, acquiring Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first round picks.

New Orleans selected Jaxson Hayes, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Marcos Louzada Silva after taking Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

“I predict them to make the playoffs this year,” Perkins said. “I think the sky is the limit for the kid (Zion). I think he's gonna be a double-double guy. I could see him being a 15 point, 10 rebound guy, two blocks, two steals.”

The Pelicans also have point guard Jrue Holiday, who is one of the best two-way players in the league. A core of Holiday, Williamson, Ball, Ingram and Hart should be able to do some damage in the Western Conference next season.

At Duke, Williamson averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists this past season. The high-flyer shot 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line. Playing alongside Ball and Holiday, two great passers, Zion is going to feast in the open court.

The Pelicans are going to be fun to watch in 2019-20. Williamson is already the heavy favorite to win the 2020 Rookie of the Year award.
