New Orleans Pelicans young star Zion Williamson had another dominant outing as they put away the Boston Celtics, 115-109 on Monday. With his latest impressive showing of 28 points on 11-of-22 field goal shooting, he is hot on the heels of legendary big man Shaquille O'Neal, according to ESPN Statistics and Information.

In 44 games this season, Williamson’s stats have been nothing but laudable, averaging 26.4 points, 7.1 boards, and 3.5 assists per contest. While these numbers are already impressive, especially for a player who is just in his second season, what's even more ridiculous is he's shooting 62.4 percent from the field.

Big men having a high field goal percentage is nothing new, but Williamson is able to combine this with such a high volume of shots. In today's NBA where spacing is king, the former Duke standout is zigging while the others are zagging, as he attempts 0.5 outside shots per game.

His style involves powerful and athletic drives to the rim. Every Williamson game is an assault inside the paint. While teams try their best to defend against this, one can only do so much with a 6'7, 284-pound bulldozer coming at them. His ball-handling and surprising agility make the daunting task even more difficult. Taking a charge from him is a challenging business decision for opposing players.

With the Pelicans' next game against the rebuilding Orlando Magic, it is almost a lock for Williamson to tie Shaq's streak.

But despite the Pelicans' promising young core of players, led by Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, they are in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 21-25 record.
