Executives around the NBA still believe the New Orleans Pelicans will be aggressive to improve the roster with the trade deadline almost a month away, according to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times.

Surrounding superstar big man Anthony Davis with as much talent as possible is important for New Orleans since Davis can become an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

There's also the fact that if AD turns down the supermax extension from New Orleans after this season, the Pelicans might have to think about trading their franchise player out of fear of losing him for nothing in free agency.

The general consensus is that the Pelicans are looking for wing help, as Solomon Hill, Wesley Johnson and Darius Miller just aren't good enough.

One thing that could accelerate the process is another trade, with the Pelicans bringing in more talent instead of selling off Davis.

NBA executives still think New Orleans will be aggressive to improve the roster; a starting small forward should be at the top of the wish list.

The Pelicans have been rumored to be interested in Washington Wizards small forward Otto Porter Jr. New Orleans is 21-23 on the season, good for 12th place in the Western Conference standings.
