On Monday morning, Anthony Davis informed the New Orleans Pelicans that he would like to be traded to a championship-contending team. Since then, speculation has run rampant as to where the former Kentucky Wildcat might land. One team that is said to be interested is the Los Angeles Lakers, who are led by one of Davis' childhood idols in LeBron James.
Davis' admiration of James goes way back. In fact, prior to his days in the NBA, Davis asked the King for a retweet on Twitter.

Omg a RT from @KingJames would be so freaking awesome!

Whether or not Davis will land in Hollywood remains to be seen, but he feels it was the right time to ask the Pelicans for a trade. Rich Paul, who also represents James, detailed Davis' mindset in an interview with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:

That's in the best interests of both Anthony's and the organization's future.”
Davis, now 25 years of age, would be eligible to sign a five-year, $240 million supermax extension this summer in New Orleans. He can become a free agent in the summer of 2020. And just for the record, New Orleans has expressed no motivation to trade him before the Feb. 7 deadline.
Without a doubt, Davis would be a great addition to any team's roster. He's already earned several major accolades, including five All-Star selections and three All-NBA First Team selections. Furthermore, he's led the league in blocked shots three times (2014, 2015 and 2018).
In 41 appearances with the Pelicans this season (all starts), Davis has racked up averages of 29.3 points on 50.8 percent shooting from the field (32.5 percent from beyond the arc), 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.6 blocks and 1.7 steals in 37.0 minutes per outing.
