The New York Knicks are still in search of a way out of the dark tunnel they’ve been in for a long time now. With a top 10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, the Knicks are hoping they could take someone off the board who could help them turn things around. For former NBA player and ESPN personality Jay Williams, that someone could be Alabama Crimson Tide hotshot Collin Sexton, whom he raved about during a recent appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, even comparing the guard to Eric Bledsoe and Russell Westbrook.
On @GetUpESPN this morning @RealJayWilliams implored the #Knicks to not pass on Collin Sexton. “Eric Bledsoe upper body with Russell Westbrook mentality.” #NBADraft

Sexton is undeniably one of the top guards in this year’s pool of NBA prospects. In his first year in Tuscaloosa, he electrified college hoops fans with this ability to get buckets from anywhere on the floor. He led Alabama in scoring with 19.2 points per game on 44.7 shooting from the field. He did shoot just 33.6 from deep, but that’s something he can improve in the pros.
Being compared to Bledsoe and Westbrook definitely adds to the hype of Sexton, but do the Knicks really want to spend another first-round pick on a guard just a year after taking Frank Ntilikina as the No. 8 pick overall of the 2017 NBA Draft?
As a gunner in college, Sexton will also need to develop patience and discipline in the NBA as he’s unlikely to become an instant focal point of the offense in the pros. Should the Knicks draft him, Sexton will be playing alongside a unicorn in Kristaps Porzingis. A potential tandem of Porzingis and Sexton, however, could be a tasty proposition for New York, which finished the season with a 29-53 record.
