Utah Jazz star guard Donovan Mithcell has been the subject of trade rumors recently, with teams such as the New York Knicks and Miami Heat among the most prominent franchises with reported interest. The Knicks have always made sense as a destination for Mitchell, a New York native who grew up a local sports fan.

Plus, Knicks fans have never been able to get over the prospect of having Mitchell on the roster ever since the team passed on the chance to take him in the 2017 NBA Draft. But how does the Jazz star really feel about a possible deal to New York? ESPN's Tim MacMahon has the details:

MacMahon said that while Donovan Mitchell “isn't forcing his way out” of Utah, his “strong preference” would be a trade from the Jazz to the Knicks. It has been reported by NBA Insider Marc Stein that a Mitchell deal between the Jazz and Knicks would require New York coughing up at least four first-round picks.

Other reports have suggested that talented young Knicks guard RJ Barrett could be involved in a Mitchell trade. Either way, the Knicks would certainly seem to have plenty of assets to make the transaction worth the Jazz's while.

As for Mitchell's feelings, it's certainly not hard to see why New York would be an attractive destination. The Jazz star would be closer to his childhood home.

He would be on a Knicks team in need of a star player to step up and be the guy. It appears that Donovan Mitchell wants that.

Time will tell what happens.
