Derrick Rose has just arrived in the Big Apple following Sunday's trade to the New York Knicks. Upon his arrival, the former MVP shared his excitement to re-join one of the biggest teams in all of sports.

Here's a look at Rose's first official interview in New York courtesy of the Knicks on Twitter:

Rose admitted that he had some initial doubt as to whether or not the deal would push through, and how he breathed a sigh of relief once it was finalized.

As he said in his message above, Rose knows exactly why the Knicks brought him back. He is no longer the explosive 28-year-old New York traded for in 2016, but he returns with a clear mission in mind.

Rose has had a resurgent past two seasons, but he has had a relatively slow start with the Detroit Pistons this term. As it turns out, the team was already looking to offload the three-time All-Star, and for their part, the Knicks were more than willing to pounce on the opportunity to bring Rose back to Madison Square Garden.

Rose also made sure to send a shout out to Tom Thibodeau, who as the current head coach of the Knicks, played a key role in the recent trade. A Rose-Thibs reunion is now forthcoming, as the pair reminisces about how Rose dominated the league as a youngster during their time together with the Chicago Bulls. We shouldn't expect a return to MVP form for Rose in New York, but there's no denying that his connection with his former coach is still going to be there.
