During the New York Knicks' loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday, Knicks fans made their thoughts to head coach David Fizdale very clear: they want Enes Kanter.

Kanter, who has not played in six of New York's last seven games, is at odds with Fizdale over his playing time, which has been dwindling since the end of December.

With Kanter sitting on the bench in the third quarter, Knicks fans began chanting “We want Kanter,” to which Kanter nodded his head and acknowledged the crowd.

The big man then took to Twitter after the game to thank New York fans for their loyalty:

With Kanter headed for free agency this summer, his days with the Knicks are clearly numbered, and it seems likely that he won't even finish the season with the team.

New York will surely try to move him before the Feb. 7 trade deadline, and if the Knicks can't find a deal, there is a very good chance that they simply buy him out to let him go elsewhere.

The latter seems like the more probably scenario, as Kanter is making $18 million this season, making him a very difficult salary to match given his contract situation and the fact that he is a niche player.

There was a time where Kanter, a bruiser who likes to play down in the paint, would have had a huge role on a contending team, but with the league moving toward floor spacing and defensive versatility, the 26-year-old does not have much of a place in the NBA anymore.
