The New York Knicks have no intention of winning games these days, but that doesn't mean the Big Apple has begun to fade out of the spotlight.

Most recently, the Knicks created a multitude of headlines due to the absence of veteran center Enes Kanter. As is tradition in New York, these headlines did not come without some controversy as the aforementioned Kanter has not suited up for the Knicks since back on Jan. 8 against the Golden State Warriors because of a lingering illness — which has been labeled as the flu but was initially thought by some to be a case of overeating.

The 26-year-old big man has now publicly stated, via Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic, that he has indeed been battling flu-like symptoms while making it very clear that a recent bout against seven hamburgers, among other foods, was not the actual cause of his time on the sideline:

“It was not burgers,” said Kanter, who specficially attributed his illness to the combination of a flight back from the West Coast and a lack of sleep. “Well I ate a lot of burgers that night [but] it was the flu.”

Kanter recently took to social media in order to put his most recent cheat meal on full display, leading to all of this speculation. The Knicks center has made this a bit of a tradition throughout the 2018-19 season as well, continually posting pictures and videos involving massive cheat meals — whether it's hamburgers or otherwise.

It is also worth noting that while Kanter has yet to return to the Knicks' lineup, he remained on U.S. soil for the team's latest matchup, an overseas game against the Washington Wizards, due to ongoing tension with the Turkish government.
