New York Knicks big man Enes Kanter has been getting a lot of love from the fans at Madison Square Garden lately, with fans showering him with “We want Kanter” chants as he sits on the bench.

Kanter is appreciative of the chants, but says the Knicks organization probably isn't:

“I don't know if the organization wants to hear that every game because it's a little embarrassing,” he said, according to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. “Because after all this trade and everything that the fans still want me to go out there and play. I don't know if they want to hear that chant every game. I have no idea what they will do.”

Is Kanter surprised to hear the chants? Not at all:

“No. They want me out there,” he said. “They love me. Still love between me and the fans. It's an amazing thing. That's why I owe New York a lot.”

Kanter originally arrived in New York before the start of the 2017-18 campaign after coming over in a trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

While Kanter received extensive playing time last year and early on this season, his minutes began to dwindle in late December, as head coach David Fizdale began to opt for the floor-spacing ability of Luke Kornet.

The Knicks can trade Kanter before the deadline on Thursday, but given that he has an $18 million salary, that will be tough to do. New York could also buy him out, which they must do by March 1 for Kanter to be eligible to join a playoff team.
