It has been well over a month since the New York Knicks suffered what was nothing less than one of, if not the worst series of events in franchise history. Nevertheless, it seems that reliving the agony will remain to be the case for the organization and its supporters for the foreseeable future.
Just recently, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported about how close Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and DeAndre Jordan really were to signing with the Knicks. As it turns out, it was Durant who appeared to have the most utmost desire to join New York. This was, however, not even close to how much Irving lobbied for the Nets.

It is no secret that this trio of friends are extremely close, and that even before they joined the Nets last summer, the general belief was that they were all going to sign for the same team. The Knicks were the front-runners at one point, with supporters even believing that they were going to be able to bring in Zion Williamson as the team's third superstar behind Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Let's not forget that Jordan was already a Knick at that point, after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks in the middle of the 2018-19 season. Durant must have somewhat tried to convince the group that New York was the place to be, but as it turns out, it was Irving and his unshakable desire to join Brooklyn that would ultimately have the final say.
