Despite its poor showing over the past number of seasons, the New York Knicks still remain to be one of the richest franchises in the league as well as (supposedly) a prime destination for free agents.

However, in recent years, the Knicks have failed to land a bona fide superstar via free agency. There are some who believe that the reason behind this slump is primarily due to the presence of team owner James Dolan.

“He is and always will be the reason they don’t get free agents,” a longtime NBA executive told Chris Mannix of The Crossover.

The anonymous source did not provide any details regarding his statement, but it would probably have something to do with Dolan's management style.

Nonetheless, Dolan himself appears to have refuted this claim completely, stating that his Knicks are primed for a very busy summer.

“We hear from people all the time, from players, from representatives [about] who wants to come,” Dolan said. “We can’t respond because of NBA rules, but that doesn’t stop them from telling us. I can tell you from what we have heard, we are going to have a very successful offseason when it comes to free agents.”

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are just some of the big free agent names that have been linked to New York in the offseason, and if Dolan's statement here holds true, the Knicks will definitely look a lot different come October.
