After starting the season on the road in San Antonio, the New York Knicks returned “home” on Friday for a matchup with crosstown rivals Brooklyn Nets.

With battling fans of both teams in attendance for the battle of the boroughs, opposing chants were heard.

Knicks fans rained down boos at the Barclays Center for Kyrie Irving, the former Boston Celtics point guard who spurned New York in free agency for the Nets. Brooklyn fans, in response, chanted “We got KD and Kyrie.”

Additionally, Brooklyn supporters could be heard chanting “You've got Dolan” — referencing to Knicks' owner James Dolan who has been largely blamed for the team's dysfunction over the years.

The Nets signed Irving and Kevin Durant this offseason. The two were rumored to be headed to the Knicks during the 2018-19 season, and it was the reason why the Knickerbockers cleared cap space and traded Kristaps Porzingis in the 2019 trade deadline.

However, in a cruel twist of fate, KD and Kyrie spurned the Knicks. The bigger New York team didn't even get a meeting to pitch on the two superstars!

It's a contentious atmosphere in Barclays with Knicks fans in attendance to crash the Nets' party. And it's expected to be like that between the two teams throughout the 2019-20 season.
