Tensions between referees and players are at an all-time high in the 2017-18 NBA season. As a result, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has found a new approach when dealing with officials.

Players have experimented with several methods to try and communicate their frustrations with refs. However, Jokic says he is simply not going to address the calls moving forward, according to Chris Dempsey's article for NBA.com

“I just decided not to talk to the referees and don't express my emotions. Just not (to) them. I can scream whatever, but not to them because (it's) a bad look. The referees are not going to change their decision, so it just makes me look bad and makes my team look bad, so I'm not going to do that anymore. I mean, of course, maybe it's going to happen in the future because it's an emotional game, but it's going to be less and less.

Jokic's comments may seem a bit far-fetched considering all the emotions that are on display throughout a single game. The Nuggets center even acknowledged that there may be times where he slips up. However, it seems “The Joker” is doing his best to stay committed to his new argument style — or lack thereof.

Fortunately, there has been no reason for Jokic to take issue with too many calls as of late with the Nuggets in the midst of a three-game winning streak. More importantly, Jokic has started to make strides toward becoming a central part of this offense. That said, it will be interesting to see how long he is able to keep his oath of silence toward the refs.
