A lot have been mentioned concerning the relationship between Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
After Durant's sudden decision to leave his old team, everyone tries to figure the reasoning, or who to blame. Speculations have circulated the news claiming tensions between the former duo forced Durant out of the Oklahoma City Thunder franchise.
Bill Donovan was asked to comment on this at the “The Vertical Podcast with Woj“:
“I think with Russell and Kevin, both of those guys wanted to win at a very high level and I think they had a really good relationship. I don’t think there’s any question about that. I think being able to talk to those guys, being able to bring both of them in together, being able to communicate with both of them, I thought from my experience I never had any situations where I thought ‘jeez, we’ve got a problem here this week. These two guys are on two ends of the spectrum and they’re refusing to work together.’ That never happened at all. I think those two guys really wanted to compete and win at the highest of levels.”

Was there on-court tension during particular moments? Definitely. But that is normal when major personalities need to work together in order to achieve team and individual goals.
Any tension created on the court was strictly kept in there for the former duo. They did create a friendship which allowed for this minor disagreements to happen without any real negative impact. At least, as long as they were wearing the same uniform. Because now, it is a completely different story.
Players themselves even admit to this certain change of feelings, either verbally or through their actions.
One thing is certain, tension or not, the game wherein Kevin Durant will go against Russell Westbrook for the first time will be a must watch. Only there we will get a definite answer on how things have evolved between the two superstars.
