It may almost be a year now since Kevin Durant announced his decision not to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder and join the Golden State Warriors, but Oklahomans appear to still not be over it.
The city's official Instagram account recently made a post to remind their residents about recycling and placing recyclable items inside blue bins around the city. However, what seemed to be an innocent reminder turned out to be a shot at this year's Finals MVP, as it included a photo of Sports Illustrated's latest issue, which Durant is on the cover of.
Since bolting out of OKC, Durant has proven that he can co-exist with the Dubs' other three stars and won his first championship last week, after winning Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Thunder on the other hand, still made it to the playoffs led by MVP candidate Russell Westbrook, but suffered a first-round exit after being defeated by the Houston Rockets.
With free agency looming, the team is rumored to be pursuing another star who can improve its roster and give it a better chance of competing for a title. That said, it can be expected that it will have to go through Durant and the Warriors, and will be a very competitive matchup, should they meet in the future with a title at stake.
