Separation can be painful, and often the hardest part is letting go.

Today, the Oklahoma City Thunder made a classic move made by many when their relationships come to an end; they started the process of removing any sign that the person ever existed. Sometimes to forgive, you have to forget.

A large poster of the former Thunder franchise player, Kevin Durant, was taken down from the Chesapeake Energy Arena today. The organization acted quickly, as he only made his decision to head to the Warriors yesterday.

ESPN writer, Royce Young was highly involved in covering the Durant saga and had the chance to interview him numerous times during his years in Oklahoma City. He shared a photo and video of the poster being removed this morning via his Twitter account.

Then a photo was taken of the space where Durant's face used to be. Some would say that this photo may be symbolic of the hole that he has left, not only in his team, but in his community. Others would just call it simple redecorating.

In the modern age though, no one is safe from the cruel treatment of social media. The photo of the very painful yet public procedure has been shared by thousands of fans, with many finding the funny side.

The healing process will begin now for OKC fans and all of the imagery will be removed, but they may still witness plenty more of another kind of “poster” this upcoming season.
