Following the departure of his former teammate Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook re-signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder after a period of uncertainty regarding his future.
The deal will keep him with the organization until at least 2018. If possible, its fan-base’s adoration for Westbrook may have reached an even higher level.
Off the court, Westbrook is heavily involved in the endorsement of the Air Jordan XXXI. As per Russ Bengston of Complex.com, an event took place around two weeks ago in Las Vegas that helped introduce the shoe.
During the event, a video was played that included soundbites from none other than Michael Jordan himself. Whilst the video showed clips of Westbrook’s display of unrivalled athleticism, the audience were able to hear the NBA legend compare himself to the dynamic point guard.

When speaking to Complex, Westbrook himself seemed shocked by the comparison actually being made by Jordan himself.
“I really don't know what to say. To have the best player who ever played the game say that about you as a player and as a person is something that is going to keep me striving.”
There is much anticipation for many NBA fans who cannot wait to see an even more determined Russell Westbrook lead the Thunder as the team’s star. Hearing complimentary comparisons like this will do his already pretty unshakeable confidence a world of good going into next season.
The former UCLA standout appreciates the opportunity to lead the team and feels as though he’s in the best possible situation at this point in his career.
“There is nowhere else I'd rather be than Oklahoma City. Why would he ever want to go anywhere else?
