The Oklahoma City Thunder have finally decided to part ways with Mitch McGary and also make a decision on their backup point guard.

Monday, the Thunder waived McGary and Ronnie Price and kept Semaj Christon on the roster. Christon will be the backup point guard for Russell Westbrook until Cameron Payne returns to the lineup.

McGary was suspended for the first 15 games of this season because of two separate violations of the league's anti-drug policy. At media day, McGary spoke candidly about his situation and how he's trying to get his life back together.

Trouble off the court combined with a growing lack of a need for McGary led to this move by the Thunder. OKC received two big men in Ersan Ilyasova and Domantas Sabonis when it traded Serge Ibaka to the Magic. The Thunder then went out and signed Joffrey Lauvergne.

Price was also a recent signing who appeared to become more valuable when Payne went down. The Thunder elected instead to go with the rookie Christon rather than the veteran Price. Christon must have proven enough in preseason and in his time in the D-League the last two seasons.
