After seeing their own player named the MVP during Monday night’s NBA Awards Show, the people of Oklahoma City couldn’t be any more proud of Russell Westbrook. Despite Kevin Durant spurning them last year, The Brodie was there take on the cudgels by leading them to another playoff appearance, and having a season for the ages in the process.
Throughout the city, there were plentiful signs and banners congratulating Westbrook for his achievement, to let him know how happy they are for him. It’s also their way of thanking him for staying with the Thunder, and hopefully have him longer with them in the future.

These definitely exemplify the love the Oklahomans have for Westbrook. He was also named to their Hall-of-Fame earlier this past season, for his contributions to sports in the city.
Should Westbrook somehow manage to surpass his incredible performance in the recently concluded campaign, more celebrations and congratulatory messages can be expected to be seen throughout the city, especially if the Thunder will be able to have a deeper run in the playoffs. For now, the team’s top priority is have him sign the extension they’ll extend to him come July 1, and from there, build the best possible lineup they can have for the start of next season.
