What will be lost in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City Thunder's Game 7 loss in the Western Conference Finals is just how well they played during this year's playoffs.

Yes, they did blow a 3-1 series lead to the Golden State Warriors. However, the 2015-16 Warriors went 73-9 this season. Statistically speaking, they're the best regular season team of all time.

The Thunder not only blew out the Warriors on two occasions and pushed them to the brink of elimination, they also handed the San Antonio Spurs two home losses during the previous round. This is a big deal considering the Spurs went 40-1 at home during the regular season.

While Oklahoma City gained respect around the NBA for their play during this year's playoffs, they coincidentally became the victim of what could be labeled as the “San Antonio Spurs curse.”

The Thunder became just the 10th team in NBA postseason history to blow a 3-1 series lead.  They did so after eliminating the Spurs in the previous round. The ninth team was none other than the 2014-15 Los Angeles Clippers, who blew a 3-1 series to the Houston Rockets after eliminating the Spurs in the first round.

OK, there probably really isn't a curse. It's likely more of a coincidence than anything else.

Having said that, it is interesting how teams seem to blow large leads in postseason series after defeating the Spurs in previous rounds.
