The Oklahoma City Thunder have gotten off to a much better start than they did a year ago.

The Thunder struggled to make the playoffs last season and were eventually knocked out of the first round by the Utah Jazz, but this time, Oklahoma City looks better prepared for the long haul, as it boasts a record of 22-13 and currently sits in third place in the Western Conference.

While the Golden State Warriors are still considered the favorites out West and the Denver Nuggets have gotten everybody's attention, Thunder star Paul George told Sam Amick of The Athletic that his team is good as anyone else in the league:

“Yeah, we’re definitely confident,” George said. “We feel we’re as good as anybody. But with that being said, (the Warriors) won it two times in a row — regardless of whatever mess they’re dealing with (in their locker room) — in December. They’re still a hell of a team come June, come May, late April, so it’s still early to predict, whether they’re having turmoil or not.”

George is averaging a career-high 26.6 points per game this season, and Oklahoma City's defense seems more dialed in than ever before:

“But we feel like when they’re playing well, at their best, and we’re playing at our best, it’s going to be a matchup. We’re not going to lay down. We don’t feel like because they won two years in a row, that this year coming right now is their year again. This team is fully confident and we’re ready for the challenge. … (But) we’ve got to beat them and be a better team come June.”

The Warriors have won the Western Conference four years in a row, so it is certainly going to be a challenge to knock them off their throne.
