The triple-double streak of Russell Westbrook may have ended last Sunday and finished tied with Michael Jordan with seven straight, but at the pace he's playing every night, it won't be hard to imagine him not being able to duplicate or even surpass it as the season progresses.

His strong play as of late has gotten himself a lot of praise and sometimes had his name included in conversations involving Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson. However, Westbrook thinks he's got a long way to go to reach their level and feels it's already a blessing just for his name to be brought up when they are mentioned.

“Whenever you have the opportunity to be mentioned with those guys, (Oscar Robertson), Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, those guys, it's a blessing.”

“It's something I never take for granted. But at the same time, I always like to live in the moment and find ways to help others. And I think that's what made those players so great – Magic, M.J., Oscar. They did it by winning some championships and also helping the guys around him. And that's what I want to do.”

The 28-year-old UCLA product also made it clear that individual awards and accolades are not what he's focused on but it's about winning with his team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I like to win. That's the most important part for me. I get asked that question every single night and my answer is always the same because that's a truthful answer. I like to win, that's the most important part.”

Westbrook is currently averaging a triple-double and is on pace to match Robertson's feat back in the 1961-1962 campaign. If he continues to play at this level and the Thunder win more games, the MVP award may very well be his by season's end.
