With Russell Westbrook now on the clock regarding whether he’ll sign the super max extension offer from the Oklahoma City Thunder, a lot of speculation has already started on where he’ll ultimately end up after next season. However, the team remains positive that they’ll be able to retain his services.
According to Royce Young of ESPN, the team is confident that the reigning MVP will re-sign with them despite Paul George making it known that he won't stay beyond next season unless they at least reach the Western Conference finals.

George's arrival in Oklahoma City came as a shock to many, as not a lot of people thought the Thunder were making a move for him, especially after he made it clear that he intends to sign with his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers, next year. He is now only considered a “rental,” as there is big chance that he will not be wearing a Thunder jersey beyond the 2017-18 campaign.
Westbrook has until October 16 to decide if he'll take the $235 million offer on the table or become a free agent next summer. Should he not agree to the extension, it can be expected that the team will start shopping him, as they want to make sure that they will at least get something in return for his potential departure and not see him leave for nothing.
If he does re-sign, he will continue to be the face of the franchise for at least the next four years, and also become the player with the biggest contract in NBA history.
