The Oklahoma City Thunder won over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night via a score of 121-108. With 21 points, Carmelo Anthony became the 21st player in NBA history to reach 25,000 career points. The achievement is just another accolade to highlight Anthony's nonpareil scoring prowess over the course of his career.
"It's a special moment. Just to be a part of a class like that… I never dreamt of having 25,000 points." – @carmeloanthony on becoming the 21st player in @NBAHistory to reach 25,000 career points#GameTime pic.twitter.com/B5K3uwip6I

This achievement should allow Anthony to leave an imprint in the league even if he hasn't achieved the same success as his peers such as Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James.
While the Thunder forward is a gifted scorer, he has limited playoff success. His decorated NBA resume doesn't include any championships. Nonetheless, Anthony seems to be just fine with the number of individual accomplishments he has received.

In fact, after winning his third Olympic Gold Medal two years ago, Anthony downplayed the importance of solely winning an NBA title for his career to be considered a success, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
“Most athletes don't have an opportunity to say that they won a gold medal, better yet three gold medals,” Anthony said. “I would be very happy walking away from the game knowing that I've given the game everything I have, knowing I played on a high level at every level: high school, college, won [a championship at Syracuse] in college and possibly three gold medals. “I can look back on it when my career is over — if I don't have an NBA championship ring — and say I had a great career.”
Whether he wins a championship or not, Anthony is clearly one of the best scorers in NBA history. After scoring 25,000 points on Saturday night, the Thunder star can certainly prove that.
