Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti can't predict how many years veteran point guard Chris Paul will be in OKC.

The Thunder acquired Paul from the Houston Rockets in the blockbuster Russell Westbrook trade. Paul has three years left on his deal. He’ll make $38,506,482 next season, $41,358,814 in 2020-21 and has a player option worth $44,211,146 for the 2021-22 season.

Paul and the Thunder likely won’t agree to a buyout, as CP3 would have to give up a lot of money.

“I can’t give you a forecast on how many years or anything like that, especially after … some of this transition we’re going through right now,” Presti said on Thursday, via Royce Young of ESPN. “But I would say that we’re excited about having him here. He’s excited about the opportunity here. And I think he has an opportunity to really impact the team in a positive way. … I do know that I think he’s going to have a really good year for us, and I do think he’s excited about the opportunity to have an impact on the team.”

This past season with the Rockets, Paul averaged 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 58 games. The nine-time All-Star shot 41.9 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from beyond the arc and 86.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Paul, a future Hall of Famer, will mentor Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Thunder acquired Gilgeous-Alexander from the Los Angeles Clippers in the Paul George trade.
