Each of the players for the Oklahoma City Thunder were at a private screening of the “Just Mercy” movie at Penn Square Mall in OKC during a shooting, according to Erik Horne of The Athletic.
Horne reported that The Athletic received word that Thunder security was “made aware immediately” and that the players were “never in danger” and “safe during the entirety of the event:”
Thunder players were at a private screening of a movie today at Penn Square Mall in OKC when a shooting occurred.

The #Thunder were at Penn Square Mall when shots rang out. I’ve checked with the organization. They tell me the team was at the mall for a private screening of a movie. When security was made aware of what was happening, they were escorted out quickly and everyone is ok.

Police were called to scene shortly before 4 p.m. EST after receiving reports from civilians that there were gunshots being fired inside the mall.

Emergency crews are responding and the mall has been placed under a lockdown.
Police were called shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday in reference to a shooting.
Oklahoma City police said they are starting to escort patrons and workers of the mall while also clearing the scene.
One person was seen being loaded up into an ambulance by first responders and taken to a local hospital.
Police are looking for a black male wearing gray sweatpants, red underwear and no shirt. Police are working to find the suspect while they work to clear the mall.
Investigators think the shooting was an isolated incident.
