The Oklahoma City Thunder are adding some depth to their forward positions. According to a report by Scott Keepfer of The Greenville News, the Thunder have signed former Clemson Tigers star Donte Grantham to a one-year deal. Brett Dawson of The Oklahoma reports the deal is a non-guaranteed training camp contract.
While Grantham may be a long shot to make the roster, he should be very pleased with this latest development in his basketball career that was once met with a major obstacle. Back in January, he sustained a devastating torn ACL injury while playing a home game during conference play against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The setback effectively ended Grantham’s college career, but his inking a deal with the Thunder shows that he’s back in full health.
Before going down with the injury, Grantham was arguably Clemson’s best player. He was averaging 14.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game during his senior season with the Tigers.

Clemson managed to get rewarded with an at-large berth to qualify for the NCAA Tournament and even reached the Sweet 16 without Grantham, but the team could’ve gone deeper in the Big Dance if the forward was around.
Grantham has a grand opportunity to learn from the likes of fellow forward Paul George and superstar guard Russell Westbrook, even if the youngster is only around for camp.
Last season, the Thunder finished with a 48-34 record but got bounced out in the first round of the playoffs by Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz.
