With several teams pouncing on the post-deadline buyout market, it appears that the Oklahoma City Thunder will not be participating in the free-for-all.

As Brett Dawson of The Athletic explains, it's not for a lack of desire for the Thunder, but rather their inability to be players on the buyout market is brought about primarily by the team's current makeup:

It’s unlikely the Thunder will add a rotation piece through the buyout market, if only because they have fairly limited roles to offer. OKC was among the teams interested in bought-out wing players Wesley Matthews and Wayne Ellington, both of whom ultimately committed to teams with more minutes available.

The Thunder could use a bit more help on the wing after surprisingly waiving Alex Abrines, so adding a swingman from the buyout market wouldn't be a terrible idea for Oklahoma City, especially with Andre Roberson still out.

Nonetheless, based on this most recent report, it appears that head coach Billy Donovan will need to make do with what he currently has. And the fact of the matter is that what he has at his disposal is not bad at all.

On Friday, the Thunder secured a huge 117-112 victory against the Western Conference runners-up from last season in the Houston Rockets. Paul George did his thing (45 points, six 3-pointers, and 11 rebounds), while Russell Westbrook recorded his ninth straight triple-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, as OKC increased its winning streak to three straight.
