The Los Angeles Clippers tried their best to contain Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George with traps and double-teams … and failed.

“I'm fine being trapped,” George said after their 110-104 win over the Clippers, per ESPN. “That's where we're going to need our guys the most — for them to make plays out of it. Honestly, I think that's the easiest way for me to get myself going because I make those plays early. And we burn them, we hurt them on those plays. They can't trap me anymore. They put two on the ball, find the open guy.”

The Clippers' defensive scheme backfired on them as the Thunder were able to get plenty of help from other key players, despite a bad shooting night from superstar point guard Russell Westbrook, who finished with just 13 points on 4-of-17 shooting. George took advantage of the Clippers' defense and made them pay, notching 33 points, seven rebounds, and six assists on the night.

Jerami Grant was the team's second-leading scorer with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, as he benefited from passes from Westbrook and George, both of whom were the primary targets of the Clippers' defense. Steven Adams also contributed 16 points and five rebounds on the night.

PG-13 is enjoying arguably the best season of his career, and he looks locked in as the team's go-to guy on offense. In 28 games so far this year, he is averaging 24.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, all of which are career-best marks. George has certainly found his stride playing alongside Westbrook.

It remains to be seen if the superstar tandem of Paul George and Russell Westbrook can sustain their great play together and lead Oklahoma City to a deep run in the 2019 postseason.
