Russell Westbrook's colossal triple-double effort in a double-overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs was unprecedented. His 24 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 24 assists is the first stat line of its kind while tying the most assists ever in a triple double, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Thursday marked his second career game with 20 points, 20 assists and 10 rebounds, according to Elias Sports Bureau, becoming the third player in NBA history with multiple games of such kind, joining triple-double wonders Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson:
This is awesome basketball. Russell Westbrook is incredible. https://t.co/KWm2YI43Qn

Westbrook's dime bonanza was indeed spectacular, as he accounted for 55 points just off his assists — nearly two-thirds of OKC's made shots while he took the floor.
To make matters more incredible, the All-Star guard managed to commit only three turnovers, despite dishing out a career high in assists and taking 21 shots in the game:
Russell Westbrook has 24 assists through the first overtime. Half of them have been at the rim and 7 behind the arc. He's helped facilitate 55 total points through his dimes thus far (or, put differently, 2/3 of the Thunder's made shots while he's on the floor). Incredible. pic.twitter.com/epPQr5u04g

Westbrook now possesses the last two 20-point, 20-assists performances in the last 30 years, as he did it previously against the Phoenix Suns in 2016 during his historic MVP season.
The last time someone not named Westbrook put up a performance of such kind was Magic Johnson trotting out a 32-point, 20-assist, 11-rebound triple-double on Nov. 28, 1988 against the Philadelphia 76ers:
This is hardly the first time Westbrook has reached uncharted waters, flirting with history during his MVP season and ever since, averaging a triple-double ever since 2016-17 in the quest to become the new Mr. Triple-Double once it's all said and done.
