Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon will miss his team's game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday afternoon due to a back injury, according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic.

“It’s still pretty sore,” said Gordon of his back. “It’s still kind of moving slow. It’s starting to feel a little bit better, but I’ve just to be slow with this. I don’t want to go out there and re-do it and be out for longer.”

Gordon originally sustained the injury during the Magic's loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday evening. He finished with 23 points, five assists and four rebounds while making nine of his 13 field goal attempts in 31 minutes during the defeat.

On the year overall, the 23-year-old is averaging 15.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists over 33.5 minutes per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the floor, 36.1 percent from 3-point range and 72.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Gordon signed a four-year, $84 million contract to remain with Orlando over the summer.

The San Jose native, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Arizona, was originally selected by the Magic with the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft.

He had an underwhelming rookie campaign, registering just 5.2 points and 3.6 boards a night, but little by little, Gordon demonstrated improvement over his first three seasons before breaking out last year, posting 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a steal through 32.9 minutes per game.

The Magic currently own a record of 19-27 and have lost seven of their last nine games, although their two wins over that span were impressive back-to-back victories over the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets.
