The Magic drafted Bamba with the sixth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of the University of Texas. The 7-footer has appeared in 47 games this season for Orlando and is averaging 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 58.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Bamba, 20, has one double-double on the season. The Magic are 19-28 when he plays. Orlando is trying to build the franchise around Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac and Bamba. Nikola Vucevic becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer and the franchise could let the talented center walk in free agency since he is expected to command max dollars.

You never want to see a player go down with an injury, but especially rookies since their first year in the NBA is important for their overall development as a pro. The Magic haven't made the playoffs since 2012, the final season of the Dwight Howard era. They are currently in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference standings this season.
