The Orlando Magic have just completed a huge signing recently. However, instead of bringing in another player who will bolster their lineup this coming season, the addition they made is in their front office, but can also be considered equally important.

Their former franchise player, Tracy McGrady, will now be part of the organization once again, as he is now the special assistant to CEO Alex Martins, according to Mike Bianchi and Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.

“The two-time NBA scoring champion and seven-time All-Star signed on to become a special assistant to CEO Alex Martins, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.”

“McGrady grew up in Polk County, and he’ll help promote and market the new Lakeland Magic G League franchise.”

Tracy McGrady spent four seasons with the Magic from 2000-2004, and won two scoring titles during his tenure there. He also led them to three playoff appearances, before he continued his playing career with the Houston Rockets. Earlier last month, he was enshrined to the Hall of Fame for his contributions to the game of basketball.

Now back with the Magic, McGrady will have the opportunity to help the team reach a lot of success in the future. He may not have won a title, but he can still do his part in helping his organization reach a level of success that eluded him as a player.
