New Orleans Pelicans star center DeMarcus Cousins is clearly frustrated over his ejection that occurred on Monday night during the team's 114-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
According to an article published on Tuesday by Brett Martel of the Associated Press, Cousins doesn't think he should have been ejected in the third quarter when he elbowed Thunder star point guard Russell Westbrook in the head.
Cousins, who thought the Thunder superstar sold the call, said he was just doing big man fundamentals and was thrown out of the game because of his reputation.
“It’s crazy. When you start playing the game of basketball as a big man, they tell you, ‘When you get a rebound, keep your elbows high and out,’ you know, to protect the ball from guards coming in stripping,” Cousins said. “All I did was use my fundamentals and I got punished for it.”
Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry doesn't think DeMarcus Cousins meant to injure Russell Westbrook on the play and shouldn't have been assessed a flagrant-two foul.

In order to get on the officials' good side and help improve his reputation, Cousins is pondering whether to send them and the league Christmas cards during the holiday season.
“Send the refs a Christmas card — I don’t know — the league,” Cousins said. “Send Christmas cards, stuff like that.”
It's the thought that counts, right? If it makes him less likely to be assessed a technical foul going forward, he should definitely get into the holiday spirit.
