The Philadelphia 76ers outlast the shorthanded Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday to take the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Despite not suiting up for Brooklyn, though, Kevin Durant was showered with “KD sucks” chants towards the end of the final quarter.

This just shows how Sixers fans indeed have no chill and just maybe want to make a statement to Durant and Nets fans.

It was surprisingly a thrilling game, as the Nets managed to come from behind to cut the lead to three in the closing frame. But MVP candidate Joel Embiid and his team eventually didn’t choke in the fourth quarter. Embiid finished the game with 30 points and 13 rebounds, clearly making a statement that Brooklyn have no answer for him if they eventually meet in the playoffs.

The Nets have to be proud of their effort during Wednesday’s game, however. No Durant and no James Harden but they still somehow managed to come within striking distance. Irving had 37 points and nine assists, but it obviously wasn’t enough without his co-superstars with him. The Sixers went scoreless in the final eight minutes of the fourth quarter; hence why Brooklyn was able to put up a challenge.

As for Kevin Durant, the two time champion is still under minute restrictions because he just got back from a hamstring injury. He has only played 22 games this season, but he is considered healthy as of writing. It seems the Nets are just taking extra precautions with their superstar, especially since KD is coming off an Achilles injury.

It’s not clear where the anti-Durant chants came from—maybe from his tweets? The trajectory of his career? Or even the fact that he built another superteam in Brooklyn? Who knows, but this is something he has to get used to, especially if the Sixers meet the Nets come playoff time.
