Led by superstar Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers are well on their way to a playoff run. They are 3rd in the Eastern Conference with a dominating record of 40-24.
Along with his success with the team, Embiid is one of the top contenders for the 2022 MVP award. He averages 29.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 11.2 rebounds each game. While the official 2022 NBA MVP is still to be determined, Sixers legend Allen Iverson revealed his choice for the honor.
Iverson posted a picture of him, Julius Erving, and Embiid at the 2022 NBA All-Star Game. He captioned the legendary photo, “3 MVP's !!!”

AI won the 2001 MVP award during his long career in Philadelphia. Dr. J won the 1981 MVP award during his decade with the Sixers. Embiid, the third “MVP” in Iverson's post, has yet to be awarded the title. However, this is the perfect year for the 7-foot center to get it done, and it sounds like Iverson is very confident in his ability to do so.
Embiid is a five-time NBA All-Star, three-time All-NBA Second Team player, and a three-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team player.
The one player standing in his way is Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets star center. Currently, Jokic averages 26.1 points, 8.1 assists, and 13.9 rebounds each game. The two MVP candidates will play to better their arguments for MVP when the Sixers host the Nugget on Monday.
