Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has a good relationship with Jimmy Butler, and Sixers head coach Brett Brown thinks that the partnership is good for Embiid.

According to Brown, Embiid's mentality to play through injuries is influenced by teammate Jimmy Butler. In an interview with NBC Sports' Serena Winters, Brown said that Butler's work ethic has inspired Embiid and that it helped the 24-year-old center remain motivated despite his setbacks.

“I think he has had a significant impact on Joel. It is hard to watch somebody be in a gym, before the bus, comes to the gym, sweaty and getting shots up.

“It’s hard to look at somebody’s attention to his health and his body. It’s hard to watch somebody perform at this level and on this stage at a level that he has and not be impressed. I think that the connection between Jimmy and Joel is growing and trending in an incredibly positive way that, to me, it is helping Joel. And those two share candid conversations and you need that. We need that. I appreciate Jimmy helping our young players.”

Aside from inspiring him to play better, Butler is also holding Embiid accountable for his shortcomings in the series. Jimmy recently told reporters that Joel needs to be more aggressive, especially after Game 5 when he only attempted seven shots.

Butler has made a reputation for not being able to work with the younger players in the league, which is why he was traded by the Chicago Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, it seems that he's learned to grow as well, and it's obvious with his leadership role in Philadelphia.

And Embiid is benefiting a lot from Butler's maturity.
