Quite a bit has been said about Ben Simmons' jump shot through the early stages of his NBA career. He's a great slasher and playmaker, but some experts and analysts feel that he should take a few more shots from outside. Sixers head coach Brett Brown, however, feels that Simmons is improving his perimeter shot “on his own terms.”

“It's always been an emphasis,” Brown told The Athletic in a recent interview, referring to Simmons' jump shot. “It's always been on him. We have felt like this would come on his terms … It's always recognized that we will not go any place that we need to get to without him doing it.”

Simmons, now 22 years of age, is enjoying a fine season with regards to statistics. He has made 38 appearances with the Sixers this season (all starts), racking up averages of 16.3 points on 57.6 percent shooting from the field, 9.1 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.2 minutes per outing.

There is one problem with Simmons' impressive stat line: The former No. 1 overall pick hasn't attempted a single 3-point shot this season.

“I think it's just getting comfortable with my game and evolving over time,” Simmons said in a recent interview with dailymotion.com. “It starts day-by-day. It's not something that I'm just gonna jump into and start doing. Gotta get there over time.”
