The Phoenix Suns would absolutely love to form of the most dynamic duos in NBA history, potentially, in guard Devin Booker and center Deandre Ayton. With the number one pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Suns have a chance to do just that.

If the Suns do select the Arizona Wildcat, they'll be keeping him close to his college roots and pairing him up with one of the best young shooting guards in the NBA today. Following a private workout with the Suns on Wednesday morning, Ayton spoke to members of the media and said that he envisions a pairing with Booker being a better version of Los Angeles Lakers' stars Shaq and Kobe.

“That’s Shaq and Kobe 2.0…We could really make something happen in Phoenix.”

Does this all but guarantee that the Suns will draft Ayton number one? Based on what he said earlier in the interview when asked about working out for another team, it sure looks like it.

“No one else. I know I'm going number one.”

Booker just finished his third season in the NBA, all with the Suns, averaging 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 0.9 steals per game. Ayton, meanwhile, averaged 20.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game on 61.2 percent shooting from the field and 34.3 percent from beyond the arc (even though he only attempted ond three per game) in his first season at Arizona.

The two could certainly make for an intriguing, young tandem moving forward, and with a lot of cap space on hand as well, Phoenix's future is certainly bright.
