Throughout Carmelo Anthony's career, the 6-foot-8 small forward has been known as an elite scorer. And despite some down years as he has hit his 30s, Melo is still able to score with the best of them.
During the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night game against the Dallas Mavericks, the 35-year-old reached a major milestone. With his eighth point during the game, Anthony became just the 18th person in NBA history to reach 26,000 career points.
Carmelo Anthony joined Hall of Fame players like Dominique Wilkins, Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan on the list among many others. Anthony is also only the second active player on the list joining Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James who has accumulated over 33,000 points in his career.
Article Continues BelowNow at 18th on the all-time scoring list, Anthony needs less than 100 points to surpass 2004 NBA MVP Kevin Garnett on the list. At the top of the list is Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabaar who scored 38,387 in his career.
After momentarily being out of the league, Anthony got a redemption chance with the Blazers this season. Anthony has proven that he can still be a valuable player in the league as the 12-time All-Star is averaging 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from deep.
While Anthony has become a key player for Portland, the team as a whole has struggled. After making the Western Conference Finals last year, the Blazers are just 19-24 and currently sit a game and a half out of playoff contention.
