The Portland Trail Blazers suffered another blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night, , and at this point, it's getting a little bit embarrassing. This is exactly what Charles Barkley had in mind when he called out Portland's lackluster play as well as how they refuse to even consider trading away Damian Lillard.

Much has been made about Lillard's unwavering loyalty to the Blazers. However, in Chuck's mind, this relationship has now outlived its purpose (h/t NBA on TNT on Twitter):

“They gotta get rid of Dame first, that's the biggest piece to go,” Barkley said. “… I've said it before. They've got to trade Dame, start the rebuild.”

The general belief is that the Blazers are going to continue to build around Damian Lillard as their cornerstone superstar. For his part, however, Barkley completely disagrees with this notion:

“They ain't no good,” Barkley responded when asked to share his thoughts on Portland building around Lillard. “And Dame is on the back side of his career. … You can't hold on to aging superstars when they're making $50 million a year.”

Fair point from Barkley here. Lillard, who is now in danger of getting shut down for the remainder of the season, still has four years remaining on his current deal (including this season). During this span, the All-Star point guard is set to earn around $172 million through the 2024-25 season. Clearly, Sir Charles believes that this is no good and that now is the time to pull the plug on Dame.
