Following the Portland Trail Blazers' 127-119 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, Damian Lillard said he was playing the best basketball of his career.

Lillard put up 48 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists against the Lakers. The Blazers star is now averaging 48.4 points, 9.8 assists and 8.2 rebounds over his last five games, via Nick Friedell of ESPN.

The consistency in his recent performances led to a simple answer when he was asked after the game if he thinks this is the best stretch of his career.

“Yeah,” he said. “I do.”

The Blazers improved to 22-27 by defeating the Lakers. They have won three games in a row and are in ninth place in the Western Conference standings.

Lillard was named an All-Star reserve on Thursday. He's averaging 29.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 7.8 assists on the season for the Blazers while shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 39.0 percent from beyond the arc and 88.5 percent from the free-throw line.

After reaching the Western Conference Finals last season, Portland has been inconsistent so far this 2019-20 campaign. There's still a lot of games left in the regular season though, and with Lillard leading the charge, the Blazers can climb up the West standings fairly easily since Dame is scorching hot at the moment.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday. They are hosting the fourth-seeded Utah Jazz.
