Damian Lillard just signed a two-year, $122 million extension with the Portland Trail Blazers, and sure enough, his teammates and the NBA world couldn't be any happier for him.
On Twitter, the likes of Jusuf Nurkic, Josh Hart and Bobby Portis expressed their excitement for Lillard over his commitment and new deal with the Blazers. Hart, who'll be making nearly $13 million with the Blazers in 2022-23, even jokingly asked for a dollar from Dame following the extension.
LET ME GET A DOLLAR!! @Dame_Lillard https://t.co/R8KlEfX8ep

Damian Lillard's new deal makes him of the top-earners in NBA history. As reported earlier, the $122 million extension gives him a total of $270 million in five years. Overall in his career, he has gotten an estimated $451 million in salaries.
A lot of fans also put on a wordplay on Lillard's rap name Dame D.O.L.L.A. While Dolla means “Different On Levels the Lord Allows,” it literally became dollars after that massive contract.
Dame lotta dollas

Sure enough, Lillard deserves every penny of the money he got. After all, he has stayed loyal and committed with the team, repeatedly expressing his desire to win a championship in Rip City despite questions about his future. As Bobby Marks of ESPN noted, Dame Time is now tied with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green for third as the longest tenured player to remain in the same team that drafted him.
Lillard is the tied for third as the longest tenured NBA player to remain with the team that he was drafted by, joining Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. His career on court earnings is now $436 million. That ranks only behind Kevin Durant, Curry and Beal.

Sure enough a ton of work awaits Lillard as he focuses on the bigger things at hand, including helping Portland actually compete for the title. For now, though, he can definitely enjoy the huge moment.
