The Portland Trail Blazers are currently a team that just about no one recognizes due to the departure of CJ McCollum and Norman Powell, while Damian Lillard is sidelined due to injury. But, it shouldn't be like that for long as the organization plans to bring in a few big pieces this offseason, with one name potentially being Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant.

The Blazers were interested in acquiring him at the deadline, but it didn't happen. Nonetheless, Portland is looking to lure Grant in by offering the Pistons a potential lottery pick.

The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to seriously pursue Pistons forward Jerami Grant in the offseason, sources said. Armed with the Pelicans’ 2022 first-round draft selection, the Trail Blazers will explore offering the pick should it fall between Nos. 5 and 14 in the June draft. If the pick does not fall in that range and convey to Portland this offseason, the organization’s package falls behind competing teams that are chasing Detroit’s versatile forward. Grant is eligible for a four-year, $112 million contract extension in the offseason. Grant and Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard played together in Team USA’s gold medal run in the Tokyo Olympics last summer.

Where the Blazers land in the draft is going to be massive for their pursuit of Grant. But considering they own one of the worst records in the West right now, there's a good chance Portland ends up with a pick between six and 14.

Despite missing time in 2021-22, Grant is enjoying an impressive campaign. The 28-year-old is averaging 19.5 points, four rebounds, and 2.4 assists per night. Also, Grant was born in Portland, for what it's worth. The Blazers need another legitimate scorer alongside Dame. This could be the answer.
