With the trade deadline past, the one way that players can move is through a buyout and then signing with another team.

One player the Toronto Raptors front office has considered is Vince Carter. According to Michael Grange of Sportnet the talks are very preliminary:

Carter has been discussed internally by the Raptors, according to multiple sources, but only as one option among several.

Now of course for this to even be a possibility the Sacramento Kings would have to agree to a buyout with Carter. This, however, is something they would prefer not to do according to Marc Stien of The New York Times:

Carter signed a one year deal in the off-season with the Kings, and when he signed he expected that the team would be competing for a playoff spot, but that hasn't been the case.

They currently have a record of 17-36 and sit in 14th place in the Western Conference. In terms of individual success for Carter, the stats don't look great.

He is averaging only 16.6 minutes and five points per game. When he is well rested though he has actually played pretty well. In the 10 games he has played on three or more days of rest he is averaging 9.4 points per game and his shooting percentage is 59 percent from the field.

Carter, of course, wouldn't be the same guy who threw down these dunks in his younger days for the Raptors.

He would be a good veteran though, and he could provide quality minutes in the playoffs. He has always been a guy for the spotlight, and the playoffs are when they shine the brightest.
