If you had a Top 5 list of who you thought might lead the league in technical fouls, DeMarcus Cousins would have to be in it. Except this time he didn't get a technical… well at least not for now he didn't.

As the Sacramento Kings led by four with 37.2 seconds left in the game, Cousins was whistled for a foul on Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Kris Dunn. The big man was inside the restricted area and still moving his feet when attempting to take a charge, causing referee Tony Brothers to call a blocking foul on him, his sixth.

After hearing the call, Cousins got up from the floor and stormed into the stands, launching his mouthpiece into the stairs, then picking it up in his way to the bench.

The 6-foot-11 center could have been in line for two technical fouls, as going into the stands has been off-limits for players ever since the “Malice at the Palace” incident between the Indiana Pacers and the Detroit Pistons, back in 2004.

Throwing a mouthpiece or any accessory is also sanctionable, this one going as recent as Stephen Curry receiving a technical foul and a $25,000 fine after throwing his mouthpiece at the crowd during Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Surely this incident, while inconsequential in the outcome of the game, will be reviewed by the league as soon as tomorrow.
