The relationship between DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings‘ management has been shaky to say the least over the past couple of years. Many believe that it's only a matter of time before the team decides to trade the talented center – some say it's coming as soon as December – and now the chatter is starting to build up once again.
In the latest episode of their podcast, ESPN's Zach Lowe and Marc Stein discussed the rumor that people from the Kings' camp are now starting to grow “sick” of Cousins and that his tenure in Northern California can already be seen on the horizon.
“I've had a couple of guys from other teams tell me they're starting to hear the Kings are starting to get sick of Cousins. No one knows who's making the decisions from the ownership level, not who's making the decisions, but there's just so many voices among ownership. They have a million minority owners. Vlade (Divac) and Ken Catanella; there's just a lot of voices and no one knows who quite to listen to.”
The combination of some of the team personnel's displease with the 26-year-old Kentucky product and the unclear direction of the franchise certainly does not help Cousins' chances of having a longer stay in Sacramento. The likelihood of him getting traded is now a matter of “when” and not “if.”
Should the rumor be true, the one thing the Kings can see as good news for them is a lot of teams would definitely be interested in trading for the young two-time All-Star center. They can certainly demand a high price for him and take the best offer that would come their way and try to build around the player they'll get in return.
